Acamante e fillide – il mandorlo in fiore

Friday 25 June 2021 live from Theater Rotterdam

The duet is inspired by Greek-Sicilian mythology. It is based on deep and painful love, supported by a video-projection and accompanied by the music of Ezio Bosso-Following a bird. The piece was dramaturgically designed by inverting the events illustrated in the myth, almost like a rewind of the story, collecting images closely related to the flowering of the almond tree. The choice of the myth comes from the background of the Choreographer, fascinated by the millenary culture of his native island, Sicily.

What do you wish to cause with your choreography?

The duet was made to give life to a myth that arouses a slight feeling of frustration. The performers’ interpretation is oriented towards accurate conversation, inexhaustible connection and the power of love, which provokes empathy and transports you with the poetry that is created through video projection, body language and the bursting music.
