Maciej Kuźmiński

event horizon

Thursday 24 June 2021 live from Theater Rotterdam

The duet “event horizon” by the Polish choreographer Maciej Kuźmiński is created with the idea as street protests mount, and sides dig deeper their ideological trenches, the unity of the nation takes the form more of an uwanted guest, rather than a loving family. The white-red polish flag becomes the very field of the political conflict, the identity that both sides try to reclaim for themselves.

The new and old divisions cut deeper than ever into the fabric of the society, splitting friends and families, inspiring anger, and driving violence.
We are heading towards the point of no return. Or have we already crossed it?

What do you wish to cause with your choreography?

Maciej would like to turn people’s attention to the difficult social situation in Poland. It is almost a civil war here, something that is heartbreaking to watch. But I also hope that people will find something that relates to their experience in this duet.

RIDCC is possibility to share and expose my work – and this is my first real duet so it is important to me. An opportunity to meet other artists and their choreographic style.
