We are very pleased to share with you the news that the Rotterdam Council for Arts and Culture, has advised to grant RIDCC for the first time with structural funding. RIDCC will be part of the culture plan of Rotterdam for the upcoming 4 years. This recognition motivates us even more to carry out our mission further in collaboration with our current partners and the national and international dance field.
The Council says: “The Council is positive about the application of the Rotterdam International Duet Choreography Competition (RIDCC). The choreography competition focuses on a competition in duets, enabling the choreographers to create professional choreography with a substantial budget. The Council considers it an achievement that the organization has motivated many possible dance partners from all corners of the world. These choreographers who then win a Partner Award are able to follow their own research or maker process in a specified time. The Council has confidence in RIDCC due to the continued success and opportunity provided for the city of Rotterdam. The ambition of the organization and the increase in peripheral activities give the Council confidence in RIDCC”

At the same time we share the concerns of many colleagues in the field who are potentially facing difficult decisions in the months to come.
RIDCC stimulates choreographers from all over the world to present and develop themselves. RIDCC contributes to enrich and renew the dance field in a sustainable way.
The next edition will take place at Theater Rotterdam on 24, 25 and 26 June 2021.
